Role Summary: Facing History and Ourselves is seeking a Digital Project Manager to join our growing Digital team. The Digital Project Manager is a vital role at Facing History and Ourselves that will help lead impactful cross-functional digital projects using expertise, empathy, creativity.
We seek a full-time position of Digital Project Manager to join our growing Technology team. The Digital Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects for the Technology team across our core areas; digital, data, operations, and information technology. You will plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. Using your technical and project management expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and advancing our strategic goals, and proactively managing our portfolio.
Who you are: You are a thoughtful, passionate, mission-driven project manager who can contribute to building an effective and efficient project management practice within our Technology Team. You will have overall responsibility to work cross-functionally with internal staff and external contractors, as needed, to ensure that assigned projects exhibit excellent planning, are operated efficiently within budget and on time while taking an empathetic, inclusive, relationships-driven, communicative approach to project and stakeholder management.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Project Management
- Maintain Technology roadmap and backlog of projects, initiatives and support monthly and yearly planning helping the team stay aligned with our organization’s strategic goals.
- Plan and drive forward complex and cross-functional projects, resulting in on-time and on-budget delivery by conducting detailed project planning for multiple concurrent projects (i.e., scope management, communication management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, quality assurance, and change management).
- Remove obstacles to project completion by identifying, monitoring, and resolving impediments.
- Develop and analyze various project reports and artifacts (e.g., velocity charts, burndown, status reports) to ensure planned work is delivered on time and on budget.
- Organize and facilitate planning meetings, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and other agile-related meetings in collaboration with team members, like Engineering leads for feature development.
- Conduct and manage processes for quality assurance across Technology team’s work products and complete user acceptance testing for our technical work.
- Develop and manage team capacity planning across the Technology team to ensure effective resource utilization, forecasting and allocation to support.
- Gather and draft clear requirements, working with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure project specifications are captured and communicated effectively.
- Drive process improvement and increase team efficiency in collaboration with the Director of Digital Operations and team members.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members on project management methodologies, practices and processes.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest project management trends, digital platforms, and best practices for each.
- Enjoy improving our team’s project management and program management processes through collaboration with the Director, Digital Operations, other team members and the Project Management Office (PMO).
Professional Development
- Maintain proficiency, obtain certifications, and increase expertise in project management, resource management by attending training, reading industry-relevant resources, and attending conferences.
- Seek opportunities to submit proposals, join panels, and present our work.
- Communicate plans and project updates to team members and stakeholders via various modes of communication: documents, visual diagrams, quantitative information, presentations.

Essential Skills and Qualities:

- 5+ years of experience with technology teams in a mission-driven context and 3+ years of project or program management experience.
- Experience with platforms like Drupal 9 and Salesforce is a plus.
- Experience delivering positive outcomes through programs or projects from inception to delivery.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent major projects and programs for both short and long term goals.
- A talent for working independently in a dynamic environment, navigating ambiguity, and creating clarity where needed.
- Excellent managing tradeoffs to achieve tactical and strategic objectives.
- Self-starter; able to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Slack, and GSuite is plus.
- Comfort in setting context (priority, dependencies, and goals) and working with teams to determine milestones.
- Ability to work in a rapidly growing, and dynamic organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, processes and coordinate across functions
- Ability to multitask and be flexible while showing attention to detail
- Disciplined self-starter and independent worker with creative energy
- Ability to determine, plan and organize goals and prioritize actions
- Excellent written, oral, and communication
- Knowledge of project management tools and processes, including Agile methods and practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban and/or SAFe)

Hybrid Work Model (For HQ): Facing History and Ourselves operates in a hybrid work model, allowing staff flexibility in both schedules and work locations. This particular position is home-based. Some travel may be required.
