Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School is seeking a technology savvy, detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills to fill a new role of Course Production Project Manager in our high performing Teaching and Learning Department. This role will be responsible for planning and executing the Teaching & Learning (T&L) and Carey Executive Education team’s projects. Projects include the management of online course development, online course revamps, online course revisions, and the Carey Executive Education and T&L team’s operational initiatives.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Executive Education Program Course Production Coordination (65%)

  • Provide project management support to the Carey Executive Education program that consists of a program portfolio of 30+ unique programs and up to 70 ongoing program sessions.
  • Supports a growing portfolio of educational products and open enrollment and custom programs designed for Executive Education’s target audience of mid to senior level executives.
  • Manage a wide range of blended course development duties related to Executive Education courses which are designed to advance leadership development in academic areas like leadership, design thinking, health, business communication and finance.
  • Coordinate activities of faculty and Teaching & Learning design team in developing content for new courses, major course redevelopments, and minor course revisions.
  • Develop and execute project plans (timelines, deliverables, budget) for the course production projects.
  • Develop clear operating procedures, protocols, and flow charts for planning and organization of program activities ensuring transparency and good communication across functional units.
  • Coordinate the implementation of program assessment and evaluation.
  • Track and document project progress against milestones, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Team Project Management (10%)

  • Provide project management for select Teaching & Learning special projects and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for team working groups and special projects.
  • Work effectively within the Teaching & Learning team project management software (Asana), assigning tasks and milestones as appropriate.
  • Lead organization and archival of related course file management.
  • Provide project prioritization recommendations for internal Teaching & Learning team projects and external projects.
  • Provide documentation and reporting on projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the Teaching & Learning team and the School.

Technical Development and Maintenance (15%)

  • Collaborates with team members to test new tools in the learning management systems (Canvas, Coursera).
  • Works with other Hopkins schools and Central IT in solving technological issues as related to Canvas and other shared learning resources using JIRA ticketing system.
  • Assists in testing new features and piloting new solutions in conjunction with other JHU schools.
  • Assumes an admin/leadership role on eLearning tools as assigned.
  • Assists in evaluation and pilots of new and emerging instructional technologies based on sound pedagogy and specific instructional needs.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of reusable learning objects (Videos, lecture capture etc.) and integrating them into courses.
  • Support the offering of ADA, Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 compliant content for online programs (i.e., ensure all videos, content, and graphics are properly developed with ADA and Section 508 guidelines).
  • Provides direct support required for course design functionality issues, as needed.

Research (5%)

  • Keeps abreast of developments of related instructional technologies.
  • Researches and disseminates educational technology resources and best practices in technology enhanced teaching and learning.

Other tasks as assigned 5%

Note: This position requires occasional evenings and weekends in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. to accommodate program needs.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Coursera).
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and accessibility tools.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or related field.
  • Five years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing projects in higher education.
  • Experience with learning management systems (Canvas, Coursera).
  • Project management certification (Project Management Professional – PMP).
  • Proficient in utilizing project management tools (Asana), data analysis software, and related processes.

Starting Salary Range: $54,080 - $74,390/Annually (Commensurate with experience) 

Employee group: Full Time 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30-5 with occasional project based evenings and weekends
