 GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Director of Student Impact is an integral member of the Program Development Team at Think Together who ensures that program design includes targeted, high leverage learning and academic supports that are appropriate for the expanded learning space. The Director of Student Impact is passionate to support the urgent need to build foundational student-centered learning experiences, ensuring that program elements support the building of competency towards academic achievement. The Director will ensure alignment with Orenda Education to ensure that programming is data-informed and driven by student outcomes. They will build valuable relationships to marshal resources that drive consistent, high-quality learning experiences at scale and lead program staff to implement content. Working alongside and across teams to integrate school systems into the afterschool and expanded learning space, so that Think Together programs are an impactful component of a multi-tiered support system.  

Dedicated to the mission of Think Together, the Director of Student Impact is a confident and competent leader who is skilled in learning design and measuring student impact. The Director of Student Impact has an extensive background in K-12 education and student engagement in expanded learning programs. This leader excels at engaging in effective collaboration within teams to support a culture of operational excellence.  

Above all, the Director is responsible to ensure that Think Together remains at the cutting edge of expanded learning programs in the State of California. The Director will provide direct supervision for the Academic Content Manager, and work cohesively with the entire Program & Operations team to achieve program goals and outcomes. This position reports to the Senior Director of Program Innovations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of state standards, pedagogy, and innovations in student learning/development in expanded learning and K-12 education
  • Align programming with Orenda Education advance student impact with data informed decision-making that drives student academic skill development
  • Study and analyze trends in student progress & performance data for district partners and school sites, and identifies appropriate strategies to support learning
  • Provide collaborative support for data & evaluation projects that critically examine program effectiveness and student impacts/outcomes
  • Ensure learning elements of programs meet the needs of diverse learners, English language learners, and supports achievement for all students
  • Supervise staff associated with Learning Alignment
  • Develop project plans, training tools, and other materials for program implementation
  • Advance initiatives to provide engaged learning and skill building routines within the expanded learning space alongside project-based learning to build student agency
  • Embed SEL and culturally competent strategies for learning across program
  • Develop clear procedures, and oversee development of academic content with a bias for implementation at scale
  • Ensure program alignment with adopted California educational standards, the Quality Standards for Expand Learning in California; and compliance with all state & federal grant funding requirements
  • Research, vet, recommend & manage programmatic partnerships with mission-aligned organizations that demonstrate expertise in specific program components
  • Collaborate effectively with the entire Program & Operations Team and Regional Teams to ensure quality implementation and fidelity to program design
  • Maintain an informed pulse on program implementation/effectiveness through regular field engagement, site visits, program observations, assessments, and analysis of program data & evaluations
  • Provide periodic reports/presentations on learning goals and impact
  • Collaborate with the Program Development and Data & Evaluations Teams

Other Requirements:

  • Collaborate strategically across all departments to ensure organizational cohesion toward the achievement of goals
  • Remain current on educational developments, published research, professional thinking and relevant trends, practicing “passionate curiosity” for Think Together’s work
  • Execute supervisory responsibilities with integrity and in a thorough & timely manner
  • Confidently represent Think Together with a clear understanding of the urgency of our mission, the importance of our work, and the effectiveness of our programs


EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree (BA) in education or related field from four-year college or university; additional course work or Master’s degree is preferred

· California issued multi- or single-subject teaching credential highly preferred

· A minimum of 10 years experience in education/expanded learning

· At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position preferred

· Fluency in a second language (Spanish) is desirable
