Bilingual Outdoor Experiential Pod Teacher

Private Outdoor Bilingual Pod School

Washington, DC, USA

Full time

$60k+ (annually)

Jun 27

Our small pod of 3-8 kids aged 4-11 years old is prototyping an educational structure designed to set people up to thoughtfully navigate the climate change century in which they will come of age - the environmental, economic, social and political challenges and opportunities that are inevitable given climate realities.

We are seeking an energetic, bilingual (Spanish/English), self motivated and organized teacher who is both hard wired to the natural world and has a background in teaching experiential learning methods to create a wonderful "one-room schoolhouse" indoor/outdoor learning for a small group of children.

The right person for this position will have curriculum design and planning experience, deep knowledge of the natural world, be able to teach and support children in an outdoor learning environment and work collaboratively with the vision and specifics laid out by the parents. The curriculum will focus on level appropriate learning of the interdependence of our world to include the teaching of thermodynamics, human and natural systems, world history and philosophy as well as how to build and grow things in an indoor/outdoor bilingual Spanish/English setting.

While our setting is urban - in Washington, DC - we are adjacent to Rock Creek Park and trips further afield for discovery are expected.
