summer's off / school year only / seasonal 1099 contract employment
We invest in our relationships with our freelance partners and use the same 1099 contractors every year.
You will host instructors for a 30-45 minute Live Review of a publisher’s digital product.
Professors are invited (and paid!) to participate in a Live Review of the publisher's digital product. During a Live Review, a Leverage Market Development Representative joins a professor on Zoom. The rep shares their screen with the professor. For 30 or 45-minutes, the rep takes the instructor on a guided tour of the product and asks them pointed questions to gather the instructor's feedback. The publisher provides a script, so the Rep knows exactly which features of the product to show, what to say when showing those features, and the questions to ask.
To prepare for the review, you will learn the demonstration (“demo”) script provided by the publisher and demonstrate your proficiency with the script and product to your Leverage Project Manager.
You are responsible for being able to use the publisher’s product seamlessly for the purposes of the demonstration.
You are responsible for learning the demo script, and making it your own. The demonstration should be conversational and not be read, memorized, or robotic. The purpose of the script is to make sure you know what to show, what to say, what to ask, and when and where to click, and to ensure that each customer gets consistent presentations and post-call data for our publisher clients.
During the demo, you will be working in Zoom, sharing your screen, and managing a presentation of a digital publisher product. This will involve clicking around and showing how different features work along with showing accompanying Powerpoint slides, all while taking notes on the instructor’s feedback. You will be working in 3-4 software platforms simultaneously, so you must be extremely comfortable with technology. The purpose of these calls is to show instructors how easy the technology is to use, so your ability to smoothly drive this presentation is critical.
You are responsible for maintaining your calendar in our scheduling software so the instructors can sign up for a demo with you.
During the demo, you are responsible for listening carefully to the instructor’s feedback and taking detailed, meaningful notes.
Following the demo, you are responsible for writing a summary which goes to the publisher. You need attention to detail as each of our customers has unique feedback that must be gathered. Additionally, this feedback is often reported to our customers in different ways, so you must be able to keep different projects and processes straight.
At the end of the project you are responsible for reflecting on patterns that you observed during your calls and being able to report those to Leverage. You will share this feedback during a team call.
You are responsible for either having higher ed publishing sales experience or the ability to learn how to sell in the higher ed market, which means learning what to listen for when instructors are speaking, how to dig in deeper with follow-up questions, and what information is most important to collect in alignment with the specific goals of the project, so the publishers can move the opportunity forward.
This position offers flexibility in that you choose what days and hours will be your window for working hours and you choose your max hours per week.
Your working hours must take place from 8 am to 5 pm between the EST and PST time zones, since professors engage in reviews during regular business hours.
You are expected to submit your review summaries within 24 business hours of hosting a call. Ideally, you will finish each summary immediately following the call, but you can complete them that night or the next business day.
You will enter your schedule into our appointment platform and professors sign up to meet with you on your scheduling link. Your booking calendar will close to new appointments two days ahead, so you always know what your day will look like 48 hours in advance; you will not be tethered to your computer waiting for someone to hop into Zoom. We have no control over what appointment time within your available scheduling window will be convenient for an instructor.
You do have the ability to block off time on your calendar when you have personal commitments, but we ask, if your window for hours matches your hours worked, that you open up another time window to compensate, as we plan projects based on how many hours per week you can work.
